Selection of New Fellows in 2010

The Glenda Garvey Teaching Academy invites Columbia faculty who meet the designated standards of quantity, quality, and scholarship to be recognized for their outstanding educational contributions to the Medical Center campus.

In 2010, any educator submitting a portfolio that a peer review panel judges to meet or exceed the published standard will be selected for the Glenda Garvey Teaching Academy.

Individuals wishing to be considered for membership must submit an application by March 1, 2010, in the required format.

    Application Process

    Candidates must submit a portfolio using the Academy Portfolio Template. This portfolio must focus on your accomplishments in Teaching, Evaluating, Mentoring and/or Advising.

    Selection Process
    A panel of faculty in and out of the Academy will carefully review submitted applications and identify individuals whose accomplishments best meet or exceed the published standard.

    Published Standard
    Reviewers will individually compare the ‘weight of evidence’ in each submitted portfolio to the ‘weight of evidence’ in the best-matched standard-setting example.

    To be accepted into the Academy, you must provide at least as much evidence of accomplishment as contained in one of the following sample portfolios:

    Portfolio #3 – MSPH (classroom teaching, advising, mentoring)
    Portfolio #4 – P&S (bedside teaching, classroom teaching, mentoring)
    Portfolio #5 – SON (classroom teaching, advising, mentoring)
